Why VIP

Multi-Year Development Wins.

The biggest impact in our data is time. Many of our 2026 grads trained with VIP for four straight off-seasons. They built mechanics, mobility, strength, and arsenal year over year. The PBR list and the college commit wall are what that compounding produces.

01

Screened Before You Throw

Every VIP athlete completes a 60-point movement screen with a licensed physical therapist who specializes in throwing athletes. The screen evaluates internal rotation, hip mobility, hypermobility, asymmetry, and the rest of the chain that injures pitchers. Each athlete leaves with a complete report and corrective exercises built into their daily program. The screen comes first. Always.

02

Every Bullpen Tracked

Trackman pitch data. Edgertronic high speed video. We measure mound velocity, command, spin rate, movement, and arm slot every week. 90 percent of VIP athletes gain velocity in season. Every bullpen documented. No guessing where an athlete stands.

“He started with Mike in fall 2024 as a freshman throwing in the low 80s and has now touched 90. The velo is great, but how he got there was even better. From PT evaluations, prioritizing rest, teaching recovery, working around his busy schedule as a multi-sport athlete, and so much more, Mike and his staff are the best. Not only did his velo increase, his confidence and command on the mound did as well. We couldn't ask for a better facility or staff to train our son.”

The Coach

Mike Grady

Founder · Pitching School Director

Pitching coach at Malone University from 2005 to 2009 and again starting in 2014. Helped Malone break the school wins record three times during the first run. Former Hoover High School business teacher with an MBA. Built the VIP program from 8 athletes to over 100 in a decade. Co-founded Velocity Sports in Canal Fulton. Designed the GPS Athletics product line, now sold on Amazon and Walmart.

Mike has worked with thousands of pitchers over a career that has spanned high school, college, and pro arms. He is a lifelong learner who has followed the research and the data as pitching has evolved: biomechanics, ball-flight, movement screening, recovery science. The program changes as the field changes.

Before coaching: North Canton Hoover graduate. Two-time All-Federal League pitcher. Four-year letterman at Ohio Wesleyan with two NCAC championships. Pro relief stint with the Washington Wild Things in 2005.

The program is built on what Mike has tracked, screened, and verified across thousands of arms. No guesswork. No shortcuts.

FAQ

Common Questions.

Who is VIP for?

VIP is built for serious high school pitchers in grades 9 through 12 who want measurable development, weekly tracked sessions, and a path toward college baseball. Position players who want to gain arm strength are also welcome to register. 8th graders are evaluated case by case.

What is required to enroll?

Complete the registration form. The athlete must be healthy and physically able to perform the requirements of the program, as determined at the movement assessment.

What does VIP cost?

$1,995 (one session per week) or $2,995 (two sessions per week, recommended for athletes targeting velocity gains and college recruitment). Either price includes the entire program: initial assessment, 15 weeks of training, custom programming, and access to coaches all off-season.

What does scheduling look like?

Sessions run 2+ hours and cover warm-up, throwing, strength, recovery, and competition. Training runs late October through mid-February. Sessions are scheduled Tuesday through Sunday at Velocity Sports Canal Fulton. Athletes choose preferred training days during registration. Time slots are filled in order of registration.

What equipment does my athlete need?

A plyoball set, arm-care resistance bands, and forearm grip clips. We sell GPS Athletics kits at registration if your athlete needs them. Existing equipment is welcome.

What is the movement screen?

A baseline assessment that measures shoulder rotation, hip mobility, hypermobility, and asymmetry. Players are given corrective exercises for any movement deficiency found at screening. Last season we caught internal rotation deficits over 20 degrees in 22 percent of athletes and built corrections into their plan before velocity work began.

What is the pitching evaluation?

Every athlete starts with a full pitching evaluation. High-speed video, Trackman ball-flight, and expert coaches break down the current delivery, mechanics, arsenal, and goals. The output is a Total Player Development Plan built for that athlete: what to fix, what to add, and what to build through the season.

Where is training held?

Velocity Sports Canal Fulton (2511 Locust St S, Canal Fulton, OH 44614).
